The Sycamore Twins

A Work in Progress

The idea was to create two identical Custom Built Guitars, the bodies are cut from the same plank of Honduras Mahogony, the bookmatched English Sycamore tops also from the same plank. The necks are cut from one plank of Rock Maple and the fretboards are sliced from a plank in such a way to show the figure of the Sycamore at exactly the same fret position, between the third and fifth frets.

Fretscale has been decided at 25". This allows more midrange grunt to become apparent when played, as against the big two companies, one has a smaller and the other a longer fretscale. I think we all know who I mean, without actually saying which companies!!

The Twins are to have fixed Schaller roller bridges, Sperzel locking machine heads and Seymour Duncan pickups in White with Black pickup rings. All hardware is to be Black.

Finish is to be natural timber sprayed with water white Nitrocellulose laquer (just like all those vintage beasties!)

 

Why???

The vagaries and madness of the luthier is starting to show!!  But the results will speak for themselves.
